Sheffield-based training provider combines compliance with genuine social impact through employment-first model
Lynx Training Academy has officially launched as an NHS-approved provider of Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training, bringing a distinctive employment-first approach to workforce development in health and social care.
Born from over 15 years' experience as an independent support provider, Lynx Training Academy exists to do more than deliver compliant training. At its core is a commitment to creating real, paid employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities, learning differences and autistic people—ensuring lived experience is recognised as valuable professional expertise.
Working in partnership with organisations including Mencap, Opportunity Sheffield and Empower, Access, Thrive, the Academy embeds Experts with Lived Experience into the delivery of Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training. This approach to authentic co-production means learning is credible, challenging and deeply impactful—strengthening compliance while creating genuine social value through meaningful employment and community inclusion.
Designed for the realities of modern care provision, Lynx Training Academy offers flexible booking with no minimum numbers, weekend delivery options, shared-cost courses and built-in compliance support—making high-quality training accessible to providers of all sizes.
The launch comes as providers face increasing pressure to meet Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training requirements. Lynx Training Academy can support eligible organisations to access time-limited LDSS framework funding to help offset training costs.
Built from real experience rather than theory, Lynx Training Academy remains rooted in Sheffield while delivering training that's locally grounded and professionally led—combining regulatory compliance with lasting positive change.
